Fretting wear damage in crowned splined couplings: a theoretical and experimental analysis

Object of this research, developped by the Politecnico di Torino (Italy), is a theoretical and experimental analysis about fretting wear damage in crowned splined couplings working in misaligned conditions.

Damage entity has been quantified by the first Ruiz parameter, available in literature. This parameter may be expressed by means of contact pressure and related displacement, both calculated and measured in this work.

Analytical results in terms of isodamage maps have been compared with the corresponding experimental ones obtained by a dedicated test rig.
