The innovative stand-alone hydraulic actuator

KYB, manufacturer of OE hydraulic components for earthmoving, agriculture, aerospace, construction and automotive applications, launched the MMP in Europe, a hydraulic-electric actuator with endless application possibilities. Compact and functional, now in its fifth generation, it stands out from the competition thanks to its low power consumption, compact size and remarkable power

KYB is a well-known company in the hydraulic sector: the Japanese multinational has been on the market for over a century, manufacturing original equipment shock absorbers for numerous vehicle manufacturers, together with aftermarket shock absorbers with springs, mounting kits and protection and tie rods of high and recognised quality; besides, It also designs and manufactures hydraulic systems for various companies in the earthmoving, agricultural, aeronautical, construction and two-wheeler markets.

MMP – Mini Motion Package – is a sturdy and compact hydraulic-electric actuator with virtually unlimited applications

KYB launched on the European market a tried and tested product, now in its fifth generation: MMP, which stands for Mini-Motion Package. The name expresses the strengths of this solution, a compact, high-power hydraulic-electric actuator capable of meeting the motion requirements of a virtually unlimited number of applications.

A powerful hydraulic solution for all uses

From manufacturing to automotive, from medical equipment to camping, there are numerous sectors in which a hydraulic-electric actuator such as MMP can unleash its potential. It enables simple, low-cost automation of industrial lifting systems, the transport of goods in food processing plants, lifting operations in healthcare, rehabilitation and sports facilities, as well as in residential buildings and greenhouses for opening and closing skylights. Available with 12, 24 and 220V motors, it can be mounted in any position and requires nothing more than a power supply, making it a solution suitable for every need. It can lift heavy loads thanks to its force of up to 1,200 kg and stroke of 6 to 14 inches.

Available configurations

The most widely used MMP model includes a direct current electric motor, valves, a pump and hydraulic cylinders, all integrated into a very compact unit. MMP is also available in a configuration with separate pump and cylinder connected by pipes. This creates additional space between the two elements, allowing installation even in very confined spaces.

Simple and functional

The MMP works simply: the motor activates the pump, which extracts the oil from the tank and feeds it into the cylinder, causing it to extend. A safety valve prevents the cylinder from escaping if the movement exceeds the set stroke. Once the load has been lifted, the MMP keeps it in the required position thanks to the control valve seal; if the pressure becomes excessive (for instance, due to an increase in temperature), a safety valve is activated, which in turn reactivates the cylinder to ensure that the load is maintained. By simply reversing the power supply, the oil is returned to the tank and the piston retracts, lowering the load.

Efficient management

Many features of MMP make it economically convenient to manage. Easy to install, it does not require existing hydraulic systems. It consumes little energy because the pump only activates when necessary. The perfect seal of the hydraulic circuit prevents any oil leakage, protecting the environment. Robust and shock-free, it can reach a thrust of 1,200 kg. Safety valves ensure load maintenance without recoil, unlike mechanical systems, and prevent damage to the motor from overload.

Many companies around the world have already taken advantage of the benefits that MMP can bring to the production process or the operation of all types of equipment, whether static or moving. With MMP, KYB confirms its ability to provide efficient and cost-effective hydraulic solutions.
