Solutions for high-torque mixing in chemical and process industries

In process technology, in the chemical industry or even in plant engineering, safe, efficient and respectful homogenisation of the product, mostly dry substances, takes place at the beginning of the production process chain. Belt mixers are particularly suitable here due to their operating principle combined with high production and repeatability figures. Working horizontally, the mixing spirals create a homogeneous, lump-free fluid in the mixing chamber via opposing product flows. The mixer is driven at a moderate speed, but at the same time with a high torque.

The HeavyDuty rigid coupling from Orbit Antriebstechnik GmbH is the ideal solution in these high-torque mixing systems. It is available for shaft diameters from 55 mm up to 120 mm and can be mounted radially due to its two-part design. The HeavyDuty version is made of steel, complete with keyway and a burnished finish for corrosion protection. The HeavyDuty version is available with torques up to 21,000 Nm. On request, the coupling can be supplied with different bore diameters. For mixing plants with special hygienic requirements, the joint can be made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel.

Heavy-duty work is its speciality

The fields of application for heavy-duty couplings are manifold and range from industrial handling and metal processing to industrial mixers and agitators. The couplings are used in recycling and material processing plants where high transmissible torques are required. In these plants, the materials are first mixed and coarsely processed in a decompaction unit through several production steps, then transported using an eccentric screw and finally broken down further to a well-defined consistency by means of a compactor. These couplings are also ideal during the mixing process, e.g. during the processing of various organic raw materials to produce biomethane.
