Companies are facing a huge challenge in managing the retention of their knowledge base as the skills gap between existing engineers and new recruits grows ever wider. Specifically, pneumatics knowledge in relation to the latest requirements for The Machinery Directive (EN ISO 13849-1) is equally challenging for both experienced and relatively new design engineers. Festo have recognised a need for the practical application of this knowledge as it relates to BS EN ISO 4414:2010. This course provides an overview of these standards and goes on to focus on the specific safety areas around air supply, control valves and actuators and how they should best be implemented under the Machinery Directive.
