Compressed Air Supply for Transit

The compactness and super quiet operation of Mattei’s RVM series make it particularly suited to be used in ecological transport vehicles.Fig_Apertura

Whether on rubber or rail, most means of transport use compressed air for feeding different systems on the vehicle, including the braking system, suspensions and pneumatic doors.

To satisfy these requirements, thanks to technology consolidated in over 90 years in the business, commencing in the early 90s, Ing. Enea Mattei SpA has developed a range of RVM compressors, entirely dedicated to transit applications. The design honed to the tiniest details, the high standard of design and assembly, the quality of the components utilised and the high technology of mechanical processes place Mattei compressors in the number one spot in the sector today.

Reduced noise levels

Mattei’s rotary vane technology not only delivers quality compressed air, but also reduced noise levels, due to the low rotational speed and the limited number of moving components. These characteristics make Mattei items particularly appreciated in applications on hybrid and battery operated vehicles, where the vehicle’s quiet operation is a necessary prerogative.

With compressed air capacities from 120 to 4,000 litre per minute and operating pressure between 7 and 13 bar, thanks to their compactness and lightness, making their transport and installation easy, these compressors are particularly suitable for transit applications. In addition, the integrated design of the Mattei RVM series allows for multiple drives: electric, hydraulic, endothermic or forced induction motors.

These compression units are supplied in the standard version complete with built-in oil cooling unit and flange for coupling to the electric motor. Compression units are also available without cooling unit: cooling of the oil and compressed air can be supplied separately.

Mattei Transit Engineerig (MTE)

In 2012 Mattei has acquired 100% of the stock of Transit Engineering Service (TES), a leading U.S. packager of onboard air compressors for metro, subway, light rail and people mover applications. An integral part of a global strategy to move aggressively into onboard transit air applications, the company operates as Mattei Transit Engineerig (MTE) and now offers a full line of highly engineered Transit Air System supporting onboard pneumatic operations including brakes, doors, controls, safety barriers and other systems from 1.5 hp (5cfm) to 75 hp (329 cfm).

Mattei RVM: simply different

Mattei compressors are ideal for “Transit” applications, thanks to the rotary vane construction technology, Mattei’s flagship product. The vane technology guarantees delivery of high quality compressed air, extremely compact pump units and low noise level. All this is accompanied by undisputed product reliability, in all applicative circumstances. A variety of operation systems can be used with the integrated design of the RVM range: electric, oil-dynamic, endothermic motors or by power take-offs. Thanks to the construction layout, Mattei compressors allow direct coupling with various types of motors: AC electric motors, DC electric motors, hydraulic motors. www.matteigroup.com
