Gates redefines performance standards with the new hydraulic hose MegaSys MXG 5K
Gates, among the world leaders in the supply of power transmission and hydraulic solutions, presented its latest innovation consisting in hydraulic hoses, MegaSys™ MXG™ 5K: lighter, more flexible and more resistant that a conventional 350 bars (5000 psi) hydraulic hose. Product stemming from the pioneering innovations by Gates in the field of material science and process engineering, MXG 5K offers the performances of the spiral reinforcement technology in a high-pressure flexible, light and revolutionary hydraulic hose, which uses the woven spiral Xpiral™ technology patented by Gates. It is an innovative structure that exceeds all sector standards and performances of competitors’ hoses in terms of pressure and impulse life. MXG 5K has been widely tested in laboratory and in real applications during the whole development process, including severe field tests in applications with tunnel boring machines, top drives, excavators and wheel loaders. “Our constant commitment to research and development has led to another outstanding Gates innovation on a world scale. MXG 5K is a higher design option or a solution of spare part hoses for a broad range of sectors, including injection moulding, heavy manufacturing equipment, mining industry, forestry, building, agriculture and logistics. Tested at one million impulses at 121 °C (250 °F), the double compared to traditional sector standards for hoses with spiral reinforcement, and a bending radius corresponding to 50% of the sector standard, MXG 5K offers unequalled performances indeed.
Lighter, more flexible and more compact
Moreover, this innovative hose is 20% lighter, 25% more flexible and 5% more compact than standard hoses with spiral reinforcement: due to the weight reduction, it improves the safety and the ergonomics of the hose installation and at the same time machines’ performances. Equipped with XTP cover by Gates as standard, MXG 5K offers also 25-time higher resistance to abrasion than the standard cover by Gates and over 800 hours of resistance to ozone, to minimize downtimes caused by environmental conditions. Consequently, MXG 5K will last longer in the factory or on the field, even if used under extreme conditions.
Available worldwide, MXG 5K offers unequalled performances, wherever Gates hydraulic products are sold. MXG 5K exceeds performance criteria of ISO 18752 350DC regulation and R13 specifications according to SAE, EN and ISO regulations. It is compatible with Gates GS GlobalSpiral™ fittings and with all Gates presses.
